What We Believe

New York HEC believes in Jesus the Christ.

We believe that God looks at everything, all of His creation, at finds it good.

We believe that Jesus’ words calls us to a relationship with God and with others in unique and wonderful ways.

We believe that folks with very different life experiences come together and meet God.

We believe that each individual is called to follow Jesus as only he or she can.

We believe that each of us is responsible to build the Kingdom of God on Earth in the present.

New York HEC is music, thought, prayer, touch, laughter, tears, gentleness, listening, caring, and sharing.

HEC is God and people coming together; HEC is a welcoming place and time.

We believe in the dignity and value of every human life.

We believe God made human beings mysteriously wonderful and gives to each the freedom to choose:

To be faithful,

To forgive,

To praise,

To live a responsible and joy-filled life,

To love God and one another.

We recognize similarities and differences among people, and we know that the differences are sometimes cause for fearful separation.

We believe that to face those differences, and to learn to celebrate them, we need God.

We believe that Jesus calls us to celebrate all of life - every moment.

Our relationship with Jesus invites us towards a hope that with our own eyes, we will see ourselves as co-creators of the Kingdom on this earth.

Amen.
